The June meetings of the ASHP House of Delegates continued the House’s proud tradition. During the first meeting on Sunday, you collectively considered 18 policy recommendations and amended 15. On Tuesday, you considered three new business items and one resolution, and also approved the Board’s final actions on eight policy recommendations. Since March, the House has approved 19 policy positions and discontinued six. Overall, a job well done!
I sincerely thank all delegates for your engagement in the policy development process and for your recommendations for further ASHP consideration. The efficiency of the June meetings was largely due to delegates’ collaboration and discussion of amendments from the regional delegate conferences through the first caucus, including some very successful last-minute group work in the delegate workroom. You should all be very proud of what you’ve accomplished. Further, you made my job as Chair of the House a lot of fun!
Getting the Message Out
Delegate service also includes helping to communicate the outcome of the ASHP policy process to your colleagues. The new policies, as approved by the House and the Board, are now available in several formats on the ASHP website. When possible, please review these new policies with your colleagues. We’ve prepared a set of slides (also available as a PDF) to use just for this purpose.
Looking Forward to the November Virtual House
In continuing our efforts to make the ASHP policy cycle more efficient, responsive, and engaging, ASHP will conduct another online meeting of the House of Delegates in November. Proposed professional policy language will be posted to the ASHP House of Delegates website and ASHP Connect no later than October, and voting will take place over the week of Nov. 7-14.
Your Thoughts Are Always Welcomed...and Encouraged!
As always, I look forward to hearing from you should you have any thoughts you would like to share on the policy development process. Please reach out any time; I would love to hear from you. Thank you for your service as a delegate!
