November Virtual House of Delegates

October 14, 2025

House of Delegates

Mark Your Calendars for November 7-14!

Thank you again for serving in the June House of Delegates meetings. It was a joy to participate with you in a constructive session that capped a productive few months, from the March virtual House through the Regional Delegate Conferences and our in-person meetings in June. Since it is now time to complete the annual policy cycle and 2025 delegate service year, I would like to share some important details about the upcoming ASHP virtual House of Delegates in November.

    Virtual House of Delegates

Watch your email. Beginning with this message, I will reach out to delegates who may be eligible to vote in the November virtual House of Delegates. State delegates who cannot serve are asked to contact their state affiliate to request that an alternate be appointed. Fraternal delegates as well as section and forum representatives who cannot serve should contact ASHP to arrange for an alternate.

Look for policy recommendations to be posted. The Board of Directors has approved three policy recommendations and one statement for consideration by the House of Delegates. Those have been posted to the ASHP House of Delegates website and ASHP Connect House of Delegates community.

Debate the policy recommendations on Connect. Delegates are encouraged to debate the merits of the policy recommendations on ASHP Connect. Due to the constraints of online voting, no amendments are considered to the policy recommendations during the virtual House of Delegates.

Vote on the policy recommendations online. Just before voting starts, delegates will receive another email message with detailed instructions for secure online voting, which will take place over the week of November 7-14. Delegates are encouraged to vote against a policy recommendation if they strongly feel it should be amended or not adopted as is. Policy recommendations approved by at least 85% of delegates become ASHP policy. Any policy not reaching that level of consensus will be further considered by the House of Delegates in 2026.

What Does This Mean For Me?

    • If you are a state delegate who will not be able to serve for the November session, please contact your state affiliate so an alternate can be appointed. Other delegates who cannot serve should contact ASHP.
    • Read the policy recommendations and discuss them on ASHP Connect.
    • Watch for upcoming email messages with details about how to vote.

Plan Now for State Affiliate Outreach at Spring Annual Meetings

Delegates will be receiving additional policy recommendations from ASHP’s policy making groups after the ASHP Board of Directors meeting in January 2026. All delegates are responsible for collecting input on these policy recommendations from ASHP members they represent. Delegates then share this feedback at Regional Delegate Conferences, on ASHP Connect, and at the June House meetings. An excellent place to collect this member input is at your state organization’s annual meeting, especially if it occurs between January and May. This opportunity for discussion and debate at the state affiliate level will undoubtedly provide for a greater level of involvement from your constituents and help guide your thinking as you prepare to cast your votes during the 2026 House of Delegates cycle. Planning is likely underway for these spring meetings, so contact your state affiliate’s education or meeting planning committees to get a policy session on the agenda.

Please always feel free to drop me a line with any issues, questions, or concerns at the email address listed below.

Thank you again for your commitment to the ASHP policy process.

    Best Regards,

    J Hogue Sig
