House of Delegates

Results of the Virtual House of Delegates

Thanks to all who voted in the recent virtual House of Delegates! With 96% of delegates voting, the House voted to approve 12 policies:

    • Responsible Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Education and Training

    • Fostering Leadership Development (discontinuation)

    • Safe Use of Controlled Substances Through Regulatory Reform

    • Pharmacy Leadership of Infusion Services

    • Name Change (discontinuation)

    • Ready-to-use Packaging for all Settings (discontinuation)

    • ASHP Statement on Reporting Medical Errors (discontinuation)

    • Integrity of Pharmacist Provided Health Information

    • Pharmacist Engagement in and Payment for Telehealth (discontinuation)

    • Deregulation of Prescription Drugs

    • Drug Dosing in Conditions that Alter Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics

    • Direct-to-Consumer Clinical Genetic Tests

The following four policy recommendations did not achieve the 85% threshold for approval and will be further considered by the House later in the year:

    • Promoting Environmental Sustainability in Healthcare

    • Body Size Inclusivity

    • Dosing of Combination Antibiotics

    • Evidence-Based Medicine

The report on the March virtual House and a summary slide set of the policies approved at the March virtual House of Delegates are available on the HOD website. I appreciate the due diligence and care that was taken by each and every delegate through the virtual HOD process.

Register to Attend an In-Person or Virtual RDC April 25-28

RDC Information and Registration: As in past years, the in-person Regional Delegate Conferences (RDCs) will be held over two days (between April 25 and April 28) in various cities. Virtual RDCs will be conducted from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. between April 25 and April 28 on Zoom. Full details are available on the RDC section of the House of Delegates website. Delegates and alternate delegates who wish to participate will need to register. If you are not yet registered, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Documents for RDCs: All the documents you need for the RDCs will be available on the House of Delegates website. I recommend that you download and review the following before participating in the RDCs:

    • RDC Agenda (In-Person)

    • RDC Agenda (Virtual)

    • Board of Directors Reports on Policy Recommendations

    • Treasurer’s Report (available mid-April)

These documents will be available in a consolidated RDC Materials document.

Collect Constituent Input to Prepare for the RDCs

As a delegate, you represent your constituents at the RDCs and, ultimately, the House of Delegates. To prepare for the RDCs, you should review the proposed policy recommendations and discussions on ASHP Connect to gather feedback from the ASHP members you represent so you can share their opinions with fellow delegates.

Thank You for Your Service as a Delegate

ASHP Board members and staff look forward to working with you during the in-person and virtual RDCs. Thank you again for your commitment to the ASHP policy process. Let’s roll up our sleeves and get ready to work!

    Best Regards,
